The dictionary definition is often something along the lines of “political power being exercised by the people”.
Most democratic countries – including Wales and the UK – have a representative democracy.
This means everyone eligible to vote elects representatives to make decisions on their behalf, to represent their interests or to solve issues for them (often called “casework”).
